We are pleased to announce the availability or our first advanced technical certification: the Ruckus Wireless Solutions Engineer (WiSE) Certification, available only through Pearson VUE testing centers.
WiSE Level 2 Certification
The Ruckus Wireless Solutions Engineer (WiSE) Level 2 Certification is our most advanced certification exam. It ensures that you have the necessary skills to analyze, design, deploy, manage, and support robust wireless networks consisting of a range of Ruckus smart Wi-Fi products, including our latest ZoneDirector controllers and Access Points.
This certification is suggested for Ruckus Big Dog and Top Dog partners and network engineers who design and manage advanced or complex ZoneDirector deployments.

- What exactly is the change that Ruckus Wireless is making?
Effective February 5, 2014, the Ruckus Wireless Solutions Engineer (WiSE) Level 2 Certification exam will be delivered exclusively with Pearson VUE via their worldwide network of more than 5,000 testing centers.
- Why is Ruckus Wireless changing its test delivery program?
Ruckus Wireless is changing its test delivery to a high-stakes model in order to advance its certification program, and provide candidates a more secure testing experience. In addition, Ruckus Wireless will take advantage of Pearson VUE’s advanced admissions security measures to ensure that Ruckus Wireless IT certifications maintain their integrity and value within the marketplace.
- Who is Pearson VUE?
Pearson VUE provides computer-based testing for information technology, academic, government and professional testing programs around the world. Pearson VUE provides a full suite of services from test development to data management, and delivers exams through the world's most comprehensive and secure network of test centers in 175 countries. Pearson VUE is a business of Pearson (NYSE: PSO; LSE: PSON), the international media company, whose businesses include the Financial Times Group, Pearson Education and the Penguin Group.
- What are the changes to the admission process for Ruckus Wireless candidates?
The admission process when taking proctored exams will now include enhanced security requirements for those wishing to take Ruckus Wireless exams. In addition to the current identification and admission requirements, candidates who are taking a proctored exam will now be photographed and asked to provide a digital signature. The photograph and signature will become a permanent part of each candidate’s Ruckus Wireless certification record. All candidate data will be securely stored and protected by Pearson VUE. These requirements may be modified according to local laws.
- What are the benefits of capturing digital photos and signatures?
Digital photos may be used to assure employers that the person presenting the certification credential is the same individual who took the exam. Likewise, candidates are given peace of mind knowing that their credentials are protected. Further, this initiative will help to ensure that Ruckus Wireless IT certifications maintain their integrity and value within the marketplace.
- How will candidate personal information be stored?
- What forms of ID are acceptable for candidates to provide at the time of admission to a Pearson VUE test center?
During the admissions process candidates must provide two (2) valid forms of identification.
Acceptable forms of ID are:
• Driver’s license
• Other government-issued ID, such as a state/country identification card
• Alien registration card (green card, permanent resident visa) Military ID
• Credit card (as long as it contains a photograph and signature)—as a secondary ID only
Note: In Japan, the Health Insurance card is an acceptable form of secondary identification.
- Will my old WiSE Certification still be valid after the cutover?
Yes, previously attained WiSE and WiSE Level 1 Certifications will continue to be valid for a period of two years from the date the exam was passed. However, we expect the Ruckus Wireless Solutions Engineer (WiSE) Level 2 Certification to be required for certain partner discount levels and to carry more weight in the wireless industry.
- Will the exam be offered in my native language?
The Ruckus Wireless Solutions Engineer (WiSE) Level 2 Certification will be offered in English only.
- Where are Pearson VUE Authorized Test Centers located?
Pearson VUE currently has more than 5,000 Pearson VUE Test Centers in more than 165 countries; including several hundred company-owned and operated Pearson Professional Centers. - Does Pearson VUE offer all Ruckus Wireless certification exams?
The Ruckus Wireless Solutions Engineer (WiSE) Level 2 Certification exam is available at Pearson VUE Authorized Test Centers. More exams will be available in early 2014. We will continue to offer some certification exams online at the Ruckus Wireless Training Portal.
- Are the Ruckus Wireless exams on the Pearson VUE system different?
The Ruckus Wireless Solutions Engineer (WiSE) Level 2 Certification exam is more technically challenging than in the past. It has been upgraded to include new questions from ZoneDirector 9.6, as well as additional questions from the Ruckus Wireless WiFi Essentials and Wi-Fi Basic Site Survey courses. The exam has been expanded from 60 questions to 90 questions. The time required to complete the exam has consequently expanded from two (2) hours to three (3) hours. As in the past, the Ruckus Wireless Solutions Engineer (WiSE) Level 2 Certification will be valid for two years from date of passing the exam.
- How can I register for an exam at Pearson VUE?
Appointments may be made in advance or on the day you wish to test, subject to availability. Pearson VUE offers a variety of scheduling options: online scheduling, scheduling by phone and scheduling directly through the test center.
- Can Pearson VUE sites accommodate candidates with special needs?
Yes, Pearson VUE and Ruckus Wireless allow accommodations to candidates who are identified as having special needs, including extra time for students for whom English is a second language.

- What will happen to my records and testing history contained within the Ruckus Wireless Training Portal?
All records and testing history are the property of Ruckus Wireless, and this information will remain with Ruckus Wireless. Likewise, all new records created through Pearson VUE testing will be forwarded to Ruckus Wireless for processing and storage. For example, your certificate will be posted on the Ruckus Wireless Solutions Engineer (WiSE) Level 2 Certification Exam page.
- If I did not pass my exam via how long will I need to wait before retaking the exam at Pearson VUE?
If you fail the proctored exam via Pearson VUE, you will need to follow the retake guidelines (below) before retaking the exam at Pearson VUE.
Ruckus requires two weeks between the first and second attempts; 60 days are required between all subsequent attempts.

After you schedule your exam, Pearson VUE will send you a confirmation email listing your exam date, your exam time, the address and phone number of the test center, and directions to the test center.
Exam Retake Policy
- Candidates may retake the exam as many times as desired
- Two weeks between first and second attempt
- Thirty days between each successive attempt thereafter
If you wish to cancel or reschedule your exam, you must contact Pearson VUE 24 hours prior to your scheduled appointment. Cancelling or rescheduling less than 24 hours prior to your appointment may result in forfeiting your exam fee. If you do not show up for your exam all fees will be forfeited.
